About Us

The Federation of Catholic Teachers

The Federation of Catholic Teachers is the Collective Bargaining Representative for the lay faculty in both elementary schools and high schools within the Archdiocese of New York. We proudly represent thousands of teachers and other professionals including librarians,  guidance counselors, and educational assistants. For the last 50 years, the Federation of Catholic Teachers has fought to improve working conditions, salary, medical insurance, pension benefits and much more.  We are pleased to announce that we are now qualified to represent educators in both New York and New Jersey.

Our Mission

  • To encourage Christian ideals and principles in dealings among members, students, their parents and all people associated with Catholic schools.
  • To encourage and promote a climate of excellence to further the moral and intellectual development of our students.
  • To secure improved wages, hours, working conditions and other economic advantages through organization, negotiation and collective bargaining that will raise the standards of the education profession.
  • To unite into one group all teachers, librarians, counselors and educational assistants employed in Catholic schools and to assist and cooperate with other education and labor organizations on matters of mutual concern.
  • To encourage Catholic schools and the Church to honor their commitments in the area of social justice by providing fair and just compensation and working conditions.
  • To assist members seeking to improve their professional skills and techniques, as well as the quality of education in their schools.
  • To promote cooperation between our members and the Catholic schools at the local and central levels.
