Union Dues
Teachers {Monthly Dues Sheet}
- FULL-TIME: $51.00 per month
- PART-TIME: $25.50 per month
Teacher’s Aides and Assistants {Monthly Dues Sheet}
- FULL-TIME: $16.00 per month
- PART-TIME: $8.00 per month
The Collective Bargaining Agreement requires the school to deduct the appropriate amount from the teachers’/teacher’s aides and assistants’ salaries with each paycheck. The Union dues are to be forwarded to the Union Office before the 10th of the month following the dues deduction (i.e., August dues are to be in our office before the 10th of September). In order for a teacher to remain a member in good standing without interruption, dues must be paid to the Union every month, including the summer months and Easter and Christmas vacation periods. Please be sure to forward to the Union the proper dues payments for each teacher throughout the year. The dues rate is the monthly rate regardless of how many days worked. Please note that some part-time teachers work in more than one school. Only the carrying school shall deduct Union dues and forward the dues to the Union.
We ask that you make notation(s) in the box on the right (i.e., if a teacher leaves your school, is new to your school, is out on disability leave or has a name change). It is very important that the person responsible for preparing the dues sheet writes his/her name and telephone number on the bottom of the sheet so we can contact him/her if there are any questions or problems. If an outside payroll company or accountant is sending dues payments directly to the Union, please be sure to send an up-to-date dues sheet each month from your office. These lists enable our staff to keep accurate dues records for your school. You can also send a digital copy of your monthly dues sheet to info@fct153.org
Notification of New Hire/School Responsibility
The employer must notify the Union within 30 days of the date a new teacher starts his/her classroom assignment. Included in the information will be the teacher’s full name, home address, email address and name of the member school where the teacher is employed. Failure to notify the Union within the 30-day period creates an obligation on the member school to pay an amount equal to the monthly dues for every month where notification has not been provided. Such notification can be sent by email to the Union office info@fct153.org
A copy of any new hire’s contract should also be sent to the Office of Teacher Personnel at the Archdiocese within five days of hire. The Associate Superintendent of Teacher Personnel will forward these contracts to the Union Office.
All newly hired teacher/teacher’s aides or assistants, both full-time and part-time, must complete a Dues Deduction/Agency Fee Authorization form {attach appendix “d”} as a condition of employment. This form is not an FCT Membership Application. In order for a teacher / teacher’s aide or assistant to join the Union, he/she must complete an online membership application [https://form.jotform.com/243257508874163]
